About St. Andrews Samakee International School

Welcome!

We have produced the information that follows so that all applicants for teaching positions at St. Andrews Samakee can gain a brief overview of our educational philosophy and terms/ conditions of employment. As you read the information that follows please take some time to reflect on whether you possess good flexibility and excellent curriculum knowledge, along with bags of enthusiasm. With Gold Standard ISQM status, Outstanding BSO status and a growing international reputation, we are looking to appoint teachers who have the vision to work collaboratively with colleagues across the school, who have the talent to create strong empathic bonds with students and the ambition to develop our school’s curriculum; extending the work already undertaken. Applicants must show the ability to inspire children with an evident love of teaching and deliver fun and effective lessons.

Our school’s ethos is deeply rooted in a child-centred approach to learning and teaching and a comprehensive understanding of the needs of each child. Our creative and innovative curriculum has been created to promote high achievement and every day it captures children’s interest and enthusiasm for learning. You will find a range of teaching methods being used to ensure that each child is given the best opportunity to achieve maximum efficiency in English, Mathematics, Science, ICT and a wide range of subjects. Furthermore, our school is now progressing rapidly in its mission to create environmentally mindful citizens for now, and the future and our students are immersed in nature and the real-world of the farm during 'farm time' at our on-site farm.

St Andrews Samakee was opened in 2000 and is an inclusive, independent, privately owned, coeducational school that caters to children from 1+ to 14+. The school is set in a residential area on the outskirts of Bangkok and organised into three units, First school Nursery-Year 1; Middle school Year 2-5; and Upper school Year 6-9.

St Andrews Samakee is highly committed to the continuing professional development of all staff and provides a wide range of both in-house CPD and external courses to meet the needs of individual staff.

This summary is not intended to be exhaustive, and I am sure that it will prompt many areas of discussion if you are selected for an interview. I hope that it does, however, enable you to gain a clear impression that St. Andrews Samakee is serious about being seen as an employer of integrity.

With all best wishes,

What people say about us

I originally planned to work at Samakee for two years; five years later and I am still here! It is a friendly and caring work environment where teachers are invited to share their own knowledge and experience while learning from a diverse and creative staff. The children are delightful and this is truly a little gem of a school!

- Mark Kaye - Year 3 Class Teacher

St Andrews Samakee is the kind of school that it's hard to imagine leaving. It's a joy working alongside passionate teachers and a supportive senior leadership team, in a well-resourced setting. St Andrews Samakee has a clear vision of what a truly child-centred and inclusive school should look like.

- Ali Frankland - Environmental Sustainability & Forest School

I came to Samakee with the intention of staying for a two year year contract - eight years ago! Teachers here are given the freedom to teach creatively whilst being supported and professionally developed by an approachable, knowledgeable and trusting SLT. A happy and relaxed, but hardworking atmosphere permeates this school, where every decision is made with the individual child's best interests at heart.

- Louisa Perkins - English Teacher and School Development Leader

...a truly unique school, where we as teachers have the opportunity to help and develop the 'whole child' within a caring and inclusive environment.
