A full GCSE circle geometry resource covering area, circumference, sectors and key theorems with worked examples, reasoning tasks and higher challenge.

• Two part resource from Crossover to Higher
• Clear recap of circle definitions with diagrams
• Area, circumference and sector calculations
• Real contexts including pizza value and wheel rotations
• Full introduction to the key circle theorems
• Includes proofs, tangent properties and cyclic quadrilaterals
• Step by step examples and reasoning guidance
• Fully editable and suitable for mixed ability classes

This two part resource provides a complete introduction to circle geometry, designed to support learners as they move from Crossover into Higher GCSE material.

Part One revisits key vocabulary such as radius, diameter, circumference, arc, sector and segment using clear diagrams that help secure understanding before calculation begins. Students practise finding area and circumference in both decimal and exact form, with examples that highlight the importance of leaving answers in terms of pi. Real world tasks such as comparing pizza value and calculating wheel rotations give learners meaningful applications of circle formulae.

Part Two extends the topic by introducing the essential Higher tier circle theorems. Learners explore angles at the centre and circumference, angles in a semicircle, angles in the same segment and opposite angles in cyclic quadrilaterals, supported by visual examples and worked questions.

The lesson also introduces tangent properties and the alternate segment theorem, showing how these results work together when solving more challenging problems. Guidance is provided on stating the correct theorem and approaching unfamiliar diagrams methodically.

Together, the two presentations offer a structured path from foundational skills to Higher problem solving. They support whole class teaching, revision or intervention and are fully editable to suit your teaching sequence and the needs of your learners.
