An eight-week Harvest-themed Creative Culture unit designed for pupils with PMLD, complex needs and early communication skills. This practical, sensory programme combines art, music, DT and RE through accessible, engaging activities.

The unit begins with sensory exploration of harvest colours before progressing through fruit and vegetable printing, pattern-making, collage, sound exploration and the construction of a shared scarecrow. Pupils then explore the ideas of sharing and saying thank you before revisiting their favourite activities during a final Harvest celebration.

Activities are designed to support meaningful participation at different levels. Pupils may respond through gaze, facial expression, movement, vocalisation, reaching, choosing, signing or AAC. Each week includes practical adaptations, communication opportunities and achievable outcomes for pre-formal and early formal learners.

The accompanying communication resources contain an example activity set-up and a matching printable communication board. Vocabulary is colour-coded by word type to support pupils who use AAC and to encourage consistent modelling by adults.

Activities can be delivered as complete lessons, sensory tuff trays, focused adult-led tasks or as part of a wider Harvest topic. Materials can be adapted to suit the individual sensory, physical and communication needs of your learners.
