This fun and original assembly aids children in understanding the value of being curious in all of their learning endeavours, through:
- Understanding what curiosity is, and recognising why it is such an important skill;
- Understanding that curiosity is something that should be encouraged and harnassed – it helps us to learn, developing our knowledge and skills;
- Learning strategies to demonstrate curiosity in school;
- Demonstrating their curiosity in answering questions and predicting.
This assembly is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people.
The session also includes a fun mystery box task to encourage children’s curiosity, and engaging videos to exemplify creativity in action. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to understand how they can be curious in different areas of their learning and their own lives.
There is enough material to lead a 30-40 minute assembly here. It is suitable for children across the primary phase.
The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!
