Teach cursive from the very first stroke all the way to reading real cursive: a note from school, a postcard, a recipe, a pen-pal letter and two famous pages from US history. 97 print-and-go pages for Grades 2-5, homeschool, and older students who never learned cursive.
The letters follow a traditional US cursive model (the Playwrite US Trad typeface). Handwriting programs differ a little, especially for capitals; if yours teaches a different shape, follow your program: every practice row still works.
What’s included
- 26 lowercase letter pages in stroke-family order (slant and loop letters, round letters, hump letters)
- 26 capital letter pages
- Every letter page: a large model with a green start dot and a direction arrow, a short “how to write it” tip, trace dark dots, trace light dots, write alone, a join row (lowercase) or a capital + lowercase row, and real words to trace and write
- 5 joins pages: how letters hold hands, the bridge letters b, o, v and w, joining into round letters, and capitals
- 8 word pages: sight words, animals, food, school, nature, feelings, days of the week
- Sentence pages: sentences that use every letter, kind words, old sayings, fun facts, questions, and “all about me”
- 11 read-the-cursive pages: a note from school, a postcard, a recipe, a pen-pal letter, a class pet journal, secret notes, word matching, “name that capital”, the Preamble to the Constitution, the most famous lines of the Declaration of Independence, and signature practice
- A getting-ready page (posture, pencil grip, paper slant for right- and left-handed writers) with warm-up loops
- A 10-week plan (10-15 minutes a day)
- Cursive alphabet chart, cut-out desk strips, a progress tracker, practice paper in two line sizes, a Cursive Champion certificate and an answer key
Why it helps
- Reading AND writing: students learn to read cursive, not only to form letters.
- A start dot and arrow on every model letter, and start dots on the first tracing row.
- Line sizes shrink as skills grow: 5/8 inch for letters, 9/16 inch for words and 7/16 inch for sentences.
- Clean pages with dotted letters and no clip-art clutter; later strokes are marked with rings, so start points still show in black-and-white.
Good to know: two PDFs, US Letter and A4. Print at 100% (Actual size). One licence is for one teacher’s classroom or one family.
