Hi everyone,
I understand that both Design and Technology or Art departments often work with restricted budgets, making it difficult to purchase drawing aids like French curves. To help, I’ve created a Techsoft 2D Design template that you can cut using your school’s laser cutter.

The template can be printed at full size or half size, and you can edit the curve profiles to create more creative options.

What are French curves and how do they work?
French curves are drafting tools made up of a series of smooth, irregular curves. They allow pupils to draw consistent, flowing curves that are difficult to achieve freehand. By aligning different sections of the French curve to a design sketch, students can create elegant transitions between straight lines and curves, improving the aesthetics of their work. They’re especially useful for softening rigid, boxy designs or adding organic shapes to projects.

Material suggestion:
These French curves can be cut from clear acrylic or Perspex using a laser cutter. This makes them durable, easy to clean, and transparent—ideal for accurate positioning over design sketches.

Important note:
I cannot share the DXF or Techsoft files publicly. When you purchase this resource, you will receive a PowerPoint file containing my email address. Once you have my email, simply message me, and I will share a link to the files. I aim to respond and provide access within the same day of purchase.
