EYFS/KS1/KS2 (Years 3/4) Group speaking lesson plans for teaching French colours. Students will also learn how to say ‘I like’ and 'I don’t like’
These activities are for children who are learning French for the first time. The lessons are also extremely active and very fun!

This package is the fourth topic in a ten part series of resources called ‘A Year of French Fun’, designed to last an academic year but it can also be used on its own.

Students can also enjoy a fun video with the vocabulary from the topic being modeled by Tonton the Tortoise!
I have provided the script of the video too.

The language covered is…
I like…
Do you like…?
I don’t like…
What colour is it?
Red
Yellow
Green
Pink
Blue
Purple
Orange
White
Black
Brown

There are three lessons plans in this package and it is recommended that you use one per week. You will also find lots of creative ideas for extension activities.
The activities are very short and easy to set up, this is to enable you to drip feed French into your weekly routine when you find the time.

The first lesson introduces colours and has a corresponding sheet of small flashcards to cut out to play a competitive game against the teacher.

I have provided blank colour flashcards for the children to colour in as an extension activity.

The second lesson uses the coloured flashcards again with a puppet or toy to introduce how to say ‘I like’ and ‘I don’t like’. There are lots of tips for how to make this a funny conversation with the puppet and for children to join in too.

The third lesson is a card game with one set of cards to be cut out for each pair or group of four children playing.
It practises all of the vocabulary from this topic and is a chance for them to converse with each other and experiment with the language.
(Younger children will need a lot of support for this activity)
