Mind map outlining the main uses of prepositions with French verbs. Primarily aimed at intermediate level or above (KS4/KS5 students).

The document includes: 1 mind map completed with examples (non-exhaustive); 1 mind map with icons but no examples; 1 empty mind map. The 2 empty mind maps are there to help students create their own.

Gaps left in page 1 are there to: enable students to put their translations in; as well as to encourage them to add their own verbs and/or examples (e.g. dépendre de son téléphone).

Caption:

  • verbs using “de” are in blue rectangles
  • verbs using “à” are in purple curved rectangles
  • colour-coded boxes depending on whether the preposition is followed by: something (quelque chose), someone (quelqu’un), or an infinitive (verbe à l’infinitif)
  • the last box includes phrases and expressions
