This is a fun art activity that introduces children to Impressionism and French artist Renoir.

Children will first learn a bit about the artist and the art movement he was a founding member of before creating their own floral masterpieces.

This resource includes:
An artist introduction presentation
An activity instruction presentation
A lesson plan
A template for those that need extra support
This activity will also enable children to practice using tints and shades and develop their knowledge of colour and form.

This resource has been successfully used with children in years 1 and 2 but would also work with older children too.

Basic art supplies are needed for the activity- acrylic paint in black, white and three other colours to give children choice, paper, and a paintbrush for each child. (water is not required).

The paintings once finished make a nice art display and are equally good for using as Valentines themed cards or gifts.
