Improving Sentences Stretch and Uplevel Writing

Stretching or expanding sentences worksheets to improve creative writing / narrative writing in Key Stage 2 (KS2 or upper primary) – Year 4, 5 and 6. These 40 “stretchers” sentence expansion improving and uplevelling writing activities grow confidence in adding details to writing. Build ambitious complex and compound structures and make narrative or creative writing interesting as a writing lesson SPaG warm up, VCOP morning starter, cover lesson or supply teacher activity, or early finisher uplevelling challenge. Students will uplevel their vocabulary and use a variety of sentence structures. They’ll try more powerful verbs, interesting nouns, similes, start with adverbs or -ing and -ed words, add adjectives, drop further information into sentences using subclauses, use connectives to add information etc.
