Writing and Sentences Activities

An Upper KS2 / Early KS3 BUNDLE of flexible Writing and Grammar / SPaG resources, which includes creative writing / narrative writing story starters, improving sentences worksheets and full stops and capital letters basic punctuation cards. Ideal as meaningful Back to School activities before you get into your regular planning, and for continued practice throughout the year. These writing activities suit Year 4, 5 and 6 and will suit some early KS3. They make ideal literacy warm ups, early finishers and extension tasks. Ideal for back to school or end of term: during busy times, these are great to have on hand to provide useful learning and consolidation opportunities with little-to-no planning required.

Includes: 20 A4 Creative Writing Prompt Cards, 40 differentiated Sentence Uplevelling / Improving Trails and 40 differentiated full stops and capital letters self-check sentences cards.

Use these as whole class activities, early finisher activities or perhaps to target particular groups, to extend and improve sentences, to spark imaginative writing ideas and to support students working out where sentences should begin and end.

20 A4 Writing Prompt Cards with a picture, word bank, starter sentence and questions to stimulate a story. Students could choose one to spark a full piece of imaginative writing, just a paragraph or two or perhaps a description. Dyslexia-friendly font and format used.

40 differentiated Sentence Uplevelling Trails to support pupils in writing more ambitious, complex sentences. Use as worksheets or laminate for regular use. Worked examples of extended sentences included.

40 differentiated cards with an unpunctuated paragraph on one side and the corrections on the other. This resource supports pupils working out where sentences begin and end, a skill that often needs regular practice, even in Upper KS2. It’s a great stepping stone to pupils more independently checking and editing their own writing. Dyslexia-friendly format. Students complete on laminated cards or copy paragraphs into jotters. Features engaging, specially written short texts. Instead of printing, you can display a card on a big screen for whole class completion. Answer versions can be shown on screen too for self- or peer-marking.
