A really well planned, fun and engaging map skills lesson for KS3 Geography. The lesson theme is hot deserts and map reading.
The lesson includes

- Starters, extensions, challenges and plenary!
Students learn:
- How to read a map key
- How to use a compass to read direction
- How to use a scale to read distance
- How to take 4 and 6 figure grid references
- Using all of the above in combination to find lost adventurers and treasure!
These activities would need a minimum of 1 - 2 lessons to complete, perfect for all KS3 Geography groups, especially a class studying deserts or biomes!
