This pack uses coins as a concrete representation for decimal place value. It supports pupils to connect ones, tenths and hundredths, practise exchanging coins, compare and order decimal amounts, and solve real-life money problems. The sequence reflects common KS2 expectations that pupils become fluent, reason mathematically and solve problems using connected representations. The National Curriculum for mathematics emphasises fluency, reasoning and problem solving, as well as moving between representations of mathematical ideas.
