The design aims to facilitate language learners to develop reading and writing skills, and to consolidate the use of grammar and Pinyin.

Additionally, the questions incorporates both traditional and innovative methods in the forms of bilingual translation, rote repetition, multiple choices, matching items, information gap, finding and correcting errors, as well as open-ended questions that are related to real-life situations or personal interests.

Furthermore, there is a reading assessment paper that is based on the previous learning. Lastly, the design responds to the success criteria of various Mandarin exams and tests in secondary levels.
