I made this resource for a GCSE graphics group. It explains the processes you can use in school to make architectural and graphic models.

The materials and processes it covers are:

Laser cutting – foam board, wood, plastic, card, fabric
3 D printing
Vacuum forming
Foam cutting and shaping – hot wire, hand tools, bandsaw
Pewter casting
Sublimation printing
Embossing
Hot foil blocking
Cutting and shaping wood/plastic/metal
Working with plaster and Modroc

It also has brainstorms of the materials broken down into cutting/shaping, finishing, forming and fixing.

On the last slide there are places where you can buy materials and some links to videos onto how to make architectural models using foamboard. It is a 30 slide presentation and is aimed at Key stage 4 students, but would also be suitable for Key stage 3 students if broken down into a number of lessons.
