Spooky Spanish Legend: Interactive Homework
An interactive, homework-ready KS3 Spanish activity: a spooky Galician legend with short texts, a matching worksheet and answers. Year 7–8, 15–20 min.
“Vai de morto quen non foi de vivo”
In Galicia, legend says that if you don’t visit San Andrés de Teixido while you’re alive, you’ll go there after death… as a frog, a snake or a lizard! This short, spooky resource brings the legend to life for Year 7–8, using simple present-tense Spanish.
Three quick tasks on the interactive page:
• Lee y descubre: two short texts with tap-to-translate words and audio, then true/false questions.
• ¿Qué animal eres?: choose the animals from the legend, then build a sentence such as Quiero ser una rana porque es pequeña. The page checks adjective agreement and explains any mistakes.
• La fuente de los deseos: drink from the magic fountain, write a wish (Quiero tener un perro) and throw the bread. Will it float?
What's included:
• an interactive HTML page that works offline, with audio and self-checking tasks, and saves progress
• a one-page worksheet that matches it, with a sentence builder
• a teacher page with answers, a cultural note and English translations
Perfect for homework: each task reveals letters of a secret code. Students write it on their worksheet, so you can see at a glance who finished.
Language covered: hay, está, es, adjective agreement, quiero + infinitive, and key vocabulary (la iglesia, el acantilado, la fuente, el deseo).
Flexible use: homework, a starter or plenary, a cover lesson, or a spooky Halloween-season activity in class.
Part of the Fiestas misteriosas unit on creepy celebrations in the Spanish-speaking world. More are coming soon.
Tip: if your VLE or Google Drive shows code instead of the page, download the HTML file and open it in any browser.
