A 70 page booklet with clear, concise explanations of how (and when) to form each tense in GCSE & A level Spanish, with key irregulars, practice questions, answers and detailed comments/explanations.

The guide is set out as follows for each tense:

  • A description of what the tense is, and when it is used (with examples).

  • An explanation of how to form the tense.

  • An example of this in practice.

  • 7/8 sentences to translate into Spanish including the tense in question.

  • An answers section for students to check their work. This section also includes detailed explanations of any important vocabulary or structures used in the translations, which either come up very regularly in the exam, or are typically poorly known by students.

  • An irregular verb section, with key ones to remember.

  • Depending on the tense, more translation sentences with answers and comments purely targeting these irregulars.

The order of the tenses is as follows:

  1. The Preterite.

  2. The imperfect.

  3. The near future.

  4. The simple future.

  5. The conditional.

  6. The perfect tense.

  7. The pluperfect.

  8. The present continuous.

Teachers: The guide is perfect for students to not only refresh themselves on the different tenses, but also practice putting them into context, including key irregulars. It can be an extremely useful in lesson for students to refer to when stuck, instead of sitting there with their hand up. It can also be used for setting homework, e.g. “read the conditional section and complete the practice questions for next Thursday”.
