This unit of work is suitable for upper key stage 2 and is based on wind turbines. In the 6 sessions, children explore the function and structure of wind turbines; investigate structural designs finding out how to develop their ideas; and finishes with the children designing and building their own wind turbine model. The effectiveness of these can then be measured and assessed. This unit is particularly effective when taught alongside electricity in science and energy sources in geography.
