This powerpoint and worksheet task tackles the understanding of portraits and allows students to understand that a portrait can be more than just a drawing/painting of a face. The powerpoint looks at the work of Mark Quinn, Annegret Soltau, Cindy Sherman and Lucas Simones.
Task: rewrite the definition of a portrait and write about a piece of work that has been discussed and how it fits into their new definition of a portrait. can be group, pair or individual work. can be used for KS4 or KS5

There is also a differentiated task that incorporates the style of Gel Jamlang. This task uses collage/and or drawing, this task uses portraits of hated celebrities but your own images or students self portraits could also work as well.
