Part 2 of the Volver Study Guide collection, which builds on students’ initial understanding of the film, encouraging them to explore character relationships, motivations and decisions while developing their first analytical skills.

This four-page resource includes five activities covering:

  • Secrets and revelations: identifying what different characters know and exploring the significance of key discoveries.

  • Character decisions and motivations: matching characters’ actions to the reasons behind them.

  • Vocabulary and consequences: selecting appropriate vocabulary to explain key events and their consequences.

  • Character interpretation: choosing interpretations that are supported by events in the film.

  • Introduction to analytical writing: comparing descriptive and analytical paragraphs to understand how examples and explanations can support an argument.

The final activity introduces the Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link (PEEL) structure, helping students recognise the features of an effective analytical paragraph before attempting to write their own.

Particularly suitable for Year 12 students making the transition from GCSE to A-Level Spanish, as well as those taking their first steps towards analysing the film in greater depth.

Includes a complete answer key.
