Edexcel GCSE Business 9-1 - Theme 2 Test Paper Assessment Overview

Edexcel GCSE Business 9-1 - Theme 2 Test Paper Assessment Overview

This document is a excellent assessment overview of the GCSE Theme 2 exam paper. It enables students to identify what their strengths and area of development are for each question, based on knowledge and technical responses. This is also easily adaptable for other test papers. My school use a tick to indicate strength and an arrow to indicate development areas. I have taken a picture of how the assessment looks. On the second page, there is also guidance to support the students in answering 3, 6, 9 and 12 mark questions. This is also linked to each question, which identifies to each student where to look to see guidance on answering each style question. This lightens my marking workload and also is very effective for students to identify where their strengths and development areas are (knowledge, technical response and unit areas eg. 2.1, 2.4). Key terms for A-Level Business (Edexcel). Themes 1-4 are all covered. I give my students these grids as part of their revision . I encourage them to work their way through each theme, writing definitions for all of the terms that they know. They use their exercise books, textbooks and the Internet to help them complete the rest. A simple, but really effective, revision tool for all students.

Edexcel A Level Business Theme 2 Mock (A Level Style)

Edexcel A Level Business Theme 2 Mock (A Level Style)

Due to the lack of exam papers I have written one for my current Year 12’s to sit as their end of year Theme 2 mock. Paper is a hybrid between Paper 2 and Paper 3 style as I wanted my students to get the hang of the ‘Assess 2’ 8 mark questions. I have written it in the style of an A Level paper rather than an AS paper and have created up to date case studies including Google, Tesla & VW. Mark scheme to be added to the resource shortly but will also be uploaded within the next week as a free resource for those that already purchase.

BTEC Business (2016) Unit 19 Pitching a new business (Full 19A B assignment activities and tasks)

BTEC Business (2016) Unit 19 Pitching a new business (Full 19A B assignment activities and tasks)

This is a new unit for the 2016 spec which requires new planning - unless you have this… This unit has been broken down into two assignments 19a and 19b - within each assignment tasks have been broken down further - YOU won’t have to do much regardless of the ability of students. This resource includes tasks for students to mindmap business ideas on a canvas (for P1) then later develop marketing and finance plans for their new business idea which is then pitched (we pitched it to other classes and used their feedback as part of the last task) My favourite unit in BTEC - bringing Dragon’s Den and Apprentice to life. You could use the authorise assignment brief on the BTEC website or use this assignment brief as it will be quite straight forward to tweak for your learners. Quite a lot of time has gone into this planning this hence the price.

Excel Pivot Table Exercise / Task

Excel Pivot Table Exercise / Task

This resource has been developed as a practice Exercise for learners who have been introduced to Pivot Tables in Excel. It is a practical task that can be undertaken in teams, pairs or individually. It includes a set of data that needs to be analysed. Learners are required to brainstorm questions that a Sales Manager would need to know about the transactional data. They then create pivot tables based on the questions. There is a second spreadsheet that contains 8 sample questions and pivot tables that relate to the questions. This activity has been well received in my classroom of adult learners. They become very engaged in the process and develop a better understanding of the use of pivot tables.
