Acceleration and Graphing speed

(1)
Acceleration PPT recaps over the speed and velocity covered in previous lesson. There are worksheets with questions on with varying ability of challenge. Graphing speed introduces the idea of how different graphs can be used to calculate distance, speed and velocity. I have used other people´s resources found online - Matrix car chase and calculation worksheets.

9-1 IGCSE The Nervous System (4 lessons)

(0)
Lesson 1 covers the CNS, receptors and responses. It also introduces neurones and their role. Lesson 2 covers synapses and their structure/role in the nervous system Lesson 3 looks at the 3 types of neurones found in the CNS which will link into reflex arc Lesson 4 looks at the Reflex arc There are activities and assessments in each of the power point. There are also questions to generate a class discussion and check points.

Gene Pool and Genetic Diversity using Hardy-Weinberg equation

(1)
A level lesson focusing on the following objectives: Understand that changes in allele frequency come about as a result of mutation and natural selection Understand how the Hardy-Weinberg equation can be used to see whether a change in allele frequency is occurring in a population over time I have included many tasks which can be performed individually or in pairs. Students have 2 exam style questions to attempt using the Hardy Weinberg equation

A2 Structure and Function of the Mammalian Nervous System (3 lessons)

(0)
A2 Biology - The Nervous System covering the specification points: Know the peripheral nervous system is split into autonomic and somatic nervous systems; Understand why the autonomic system is split into sympathetic and parasympathetic systems; structure of the spinal cord; structure and function of `parts of the brain The power point contains the complete lesson including resources. There are individual and paired tasks for students plus exam questions to test understanding.

IAL EDEXCEL SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE JUNE 2019 - VENOM, SECRETS OF NATURE´S DEADLIEST WEAPON

(2)
A series of questions which focus on topics covered in the scientific article to use with question 7 Thursday 13th June 2019 Answer sheet included Range of topics to include:peptides and protein structure; protein synthesis; neurone and synapse function; cell membrane structure; enzymes; evolution; blood vessels; immune system; blood clotting plus possible core practical questions. I have included a copy of the article as last year many people had difficulty locating it. It won´t print when open in Google - try another browswer. 19 pages of questions - perfect for revision lessons or homework.

TOPIC 4: PLANT STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION, BIODIVERSITY AND CONSERVATION LEARNING GRID

A revision aid designed to support both higher and weaker students. Students have to read their textbook/notes to complete a grid of questions in specification order.Students can complete the grid to highlight areas they need to cover in more detail. Particularly supports ‘hands-on’ learners who need to write information down to absorb it Excellent as a homework task or directed study session Requires minimal preparation and interaction from the teacher - great for cover lessons! Teacher answer sheet provided

Check students learning with a series of focused questions on cells, reproduction and development. The main focus areas being cell structure; mitosis; meiosis; cell cycle; epigenetics and variation . 12 pages of questions with teacher answers. Students can self assess their work - a great starting point for revision before tackling exam questions. Questions vary in difficulty, supporting weaker students too.

This series of 3 lessons covers: the terms magnification and resolution the differences between light and electron microscopes the importance of staining in microscopy; a series of practicals with instructions how to make plan drawings of specimens how to use a graticule. I have included different tasks, some individual and some group work. I have encouraged my students to study independently rather than give all of the information. There are also a series of exam questions to test understanding. These lessons provide support towards the core practical

This PPT links to the Edexcel A2 course - describe how drugs can be produced using genetically modified organisms. It also links to risks and benefits associated with the use of genetically modified organisms. The PPT is a complete lesson with short tasks which generate discussions regarding this ethical issue. I have included the uses of the enzymes they need to know. There are A level past paper questions to test knowledge plus a fun quick quiz at end of PPT.
