KS3 DT Textiles Design Cover Lesson
This is a one off cover lesson for KS3 DT Textiles aimed at Year 8 or 9. Please note that our students are allowed to use their phones to conduct research during lessons, which they will use to support questions 1-9. Students are tasked with designing a football kit for the world cup 2022 in Qatar (design a male/female kit).
Lesson Objectives:
• To be able to conduct a piece of research about a major event.
• To be able to identify ‘care label’ instructions and recommend appropriate ones for an item of clothing.
• To develop a sporting kit and explain all decisions made.
There is also a very simple power-point which shows the Qatar logo in colour (resource printed in black/white to save money). As well as some basic information on care labels etc. I will update and jazz up the powerpoint when I get time and I will update this when it is done.
Possible extension tasks could be to then design the shorts, socks a drawstring kit bag etc. Or an extension sheet on care labels?
Cacti / Cactus Shapes & Forms Visual Aid
Year 8 are doing a Cacti sculpture project. I have created this visual aid for their exploration task whilst exploring the various shapes and forms.
WJEC Design Technology Product Life Cycle
A presentation which supports a double textiles lesson, linked to the WJEC Fashion and Textiles specification. The lesson content covers the topic of Product Life Cycle from the Core Theory 2.1.1.
The presentation is supported with a booklet which you can find on my TES page.
Unit 1 - Hospitality & Catering EXAM
Honestly these are nothing amazing but I thought I would share.
To support students with the Unit 1 exam H&C I have been creating mini mock exam papers (lifted from past papers) to test knowledge. They’re great for a lengthy starter activity or for use in a double theory lesson. Then using the answer presentation the students peer assess each others papers and write the marks on the front.
I then test again a few weeks later and share the paper via google classroom. I’ve found it’s a good way to monitor progress and introduce them to exam style questions.
When printing, print double sided but flip the edge of the second page (otherwise it’s upside down) and fold in half.
Sonia Delaunay Visual Handout
A very simple Sonia Delaunay visual handout for students to support artist research or to use as a visual aid.
Free resource but please leave a review :)
Global Warming
I was asked by a Science teacher to create some Global Warming posters for a display board / lunchtime club. Being a Design Technology teacher I have no use for them so thought I would share the resource for FREE.
Hope they save a fellow teacher some time and are useful.
Splitting The Atom
This will sound so random but here we go. I have a lady who supports my lessons who is an ex science teacher. She is also a member of the womens institute and quite often asks me to create her Science posters for her WI events.
Rather than me deleting them I thought I would upload as they may come in useful for Science as a classroom poster etc.
KS3 Food and Nutrition Safety Rules
A worksheet that could be used for cover or an extension task on safety rules in the Food Technology Room.
Thinking Skills Ladder - Design Technology
Thinking skills ladder poster for a design technology classroom

Visual Elements Art Quiz
FREE BUT PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW
Quick Visual Elements Art Quiz which I have created for Year 7. Printed A5 as a quick starter activity.
KS3 Food Senses Word Bank
A word bank which I have created for my ‘ALN’ groups workbooks. It saves displaying them on the board and I use it to help develop their oracy skills - talk like a food critic.
