There are at least 3 tasks for each instrument and the music is also annotated with note names or without. There is also a Sibelius 6 file which can be adapted to suit other instrumentation. The wow word sheet has 3 levels of differentiation and introduces students to musical language by describing the musical features of the song - this works well as a starter and provides a suitable worksheet for students to revise from for an end of unit listening test.

This are also differentiated composition templates where students can create their own middle 8 section using notation and composition methods. A differentiated listening test which refers to different versions of Jingle Bell Rock with you tube links and answers are also provided.

There is also differentiated composition worksheets to encourage students to write a middle 8 section for their performance. A differentiated listening test which refers to different versions of Rocking Around the Christmas Tree with you tube links is also provided.

A series of 2 lessons which use the elements from Mozart’s Horn Concerto (concerto, sonata form, 6/8 time signature) to as a stimulus for a composition task (original music also provided). All instrumental parts and composition tasks are differentiated and Sibelius files are also provided. PowerPoints for the lessons are available with differentiated and push your thinking tasks.

A scheme of work and powerpoints to ensure students understand popular music and the key features as well as improving their ensemble performance. Stand By Me is used as the prime example however this can also be mashed up with Just the Way You Are and Beautiful Girls. Band parts for the following instruments are available and differentiated into multiple tasks: drum-kit, keyboard (riff and chords), ukulele, bass guitar, lyrics. Sibelius files are also available so you can adapt the music to suit your needs. This scheme of work can last up to 7 weeks and also includes the option of adding in the middle 8 or student’s composing their own.

A music test based on classical music to test student’s understanding of musical language and identifying key features. Answers and links to the pieces are provided.

A series of 4 lessons based on Grieg’s ‘In the hall of the mountain king’, Stravinsky’s Firebord suite and Adams’ Short ride in a fast machine. These pieces are used as a stimulus to perform sections of classical music and create compositions in the western classical genre. All resources are differentiated. PowerPoints are also provided with differentiated tasks and push your thinking ideas.

Keyboard music with and without notes and 6 levels of differentiation. Guitar tab is available as a push your thinking task. The sibelius file is available so parts can be altered.

A music glossary for classical and romantic music techniques with 3 levels of differentiation. A music glossary for twentieth century music technique with 3 levels of differentiation. Suitable for cover work or as homework to revise for a listening test.

Differentiated resources for a short project (2-4 weeks) based on James Bond Themes. They are all in the same key with and without notes. Some tablature themes have also been provided. The task for students is to create a James Bond Theme arrangement using multiple themes and creating rhythms to match this. The powerpoint includes differentiated success criteria for individual practise and group arrangement. Sibelius files are also available.

Resources which enable students to create an ensemble performance of My Heart Will Go On. Parts include keyboard, vocals, guitar melody, bass line and ukulele chords (with and without note names). A Sibelius file is also provided and a platinum piano part (2 hands with broken chord left hand) is also provided.

Students look at the actual survivors the Titanic, many of which have interesting names, and must produce a vocal performance based around ostinati and texture. A worksheet of survivors and their lifeboat is provided, as well as a powerpoint to describe differentiated tasks and texture definitions.

A 10 week scheme of work which includes performance of film motifs, arrangements of well known film themes and a composition project.

A worksheet detailing all terminology and definitions for students to revise from for the area of study ‘Rhythm and Metre’. A powerpoint is also available which explains all terms with musical terminology and musical examples.

Key stage 3 music steps which have been created using the new 1-9 scale. There are 4 strands: performing, composing, rehearsing and listening and appraising. There are student friendly steps as well as statements that can be used for reporting purposes. A3 sheets can also be used as a tracking tool by dating when each step has been achieved.
