Bubble writing activity, can be used as follows: Students search the text for the phrases in the bubbles When they’ve found them, write them in and colour the bubbles Students then write their own version about their own family (or a famous/fictional family) but they must include the phrases in the bubbles Once they have used a phrase, they colour the bubble to indicate it’s been used. A simple crib sheet for Foundation pupils which collates key GCSE verbs in a range of tenses, including ideas to improve range of language. This can be used to stick into the back of their books as a reference tool. I have found it very useful in helping them to understand that they just need a handful of carefully selected verbs from each time frame for their writing and speaking (and don’t need to overwhelm themselves with hundreds of examples!). Also useful as a revision resource, you can test them on a selection of verbs each week and keep recycling them throughout the course.
