2016 KS2 Mathematics Paper 2 Reasoning - Random question generator

(0)
This is an Excel spreadsheet that replicates the questions from the 2016 KS2 Mathematics Paper 2 reasoning sampler. Each page has a number of questions providing valuable practice to your pupils in preparation for their tests, pressing F9 refreshes the questions and changes the numbers so you can give them the questions again. Of 20 questions on the paper I have been able to replicate 15 and of these 14 come with answers. Please make sure that you pass on any costs to your school.

I have taken each of the 36 questions from the sample paper issued by the Standards and Testing agency and created a random generator to easily provide a set of questions that can be given to pupils to practise for this test. The first page has all 36 questions, pressing F9 will bring up the same questions but with different numbers. All the answers to these questions are on the second page. There are another 36 pages on the worksheet, each providing 36 random questions of a single type.

I created a spreadsheet that allowed me to record all issues with my classes. It uses drop down boxes to ensure that the data input is very quick and the spreadsheet is filtered to allow me to sort by pupil. I then used this data to explain the performance of my pupils when called upon. The file can be modified to suit your requirements, upload class lists issues and actions into columns I, J and K respectively and away you go. I used the comment function when I needed to make an additional statement.

This spreadsheet was awarded Resource of the week Jan 2016, here is the review https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/blog/tes-maths-rotw-gcse-starter-spreadsheet A spreadsheet that will produce starter questions on topics of your choice. It will remove the need for you to think about the questions you are going to set, simply keep a copy of the spreadsheet for each class and switch on the topic as you progress through the scheme of work. Very easy to set up and gives you ten minutes at the start of a lesson to get the class settled and to get them revising the topics they have previously covered. Here is a video https://youtu.be/o8DDaoF64kU if you are interested. If you download this, please return and give a review. Update: I have added a version with answers, available here; https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/mathsshed-s-gcse-starter-with-answers-11245880

Why give past papers to pupils that can't answer half the questions? BCD booklets collate four years worth of GCSE papers starting with the first four pages of each paper, moving through first eight pages and finally first 12 pages giving your pupils loads of practice in the areas they need to work on. Designed to be printed as A4 booklets, two pages per page.
