ONCE the mocks are marked, I will give the Year 11’s the model answers so they can improve their own answers which should help for the exams in the summer.

A 7 page worksheet on the local context of Whitechapel in the late 19th century. This looks at overcrowded slums called rookeries, common lodging houses, the workhouse, work of Dr Barnardo and Peabody Estate. It also focuses on the extent of prostitution in Whitechapel and jobs such as 'sweated trades'. Includes some 4 mark exam questions.

3 resources which look at Babur and his son Humayun to decide if they were heroes or villains.

5 resources which look at how the domestic system was replaced by the factory system. Pupils have to analyse information on Richard Arkwright and Robert Owen to decide which man they would rather have worked for and why?

10 resources on the Berlin Crisis 1958-1963 which look at the failed summits, why the Berlin Wall was built, what impact the wall had on the people of Berlin and relations between the Soviet Union and America. Includes watching CNN video on the Berlin Wall (see teacher copy of the video questions for URL address and timings).

2 resources including a Starter PowerPoint quiz which tests pupils knowledge about what topics come under what theme on crime and punishment. The main resource is a 25 page booklet which is like a 'walking, talking mock' in that it goes through how to answer each question on a whole Crime and Punishment paper (including Whitechapel) with activities, tips and model answers.

3 resources on law enforcement in the period 1500-1700 for the new Edexcel 9-1 GCSE unit on Crime and Punishment. This is lesson 5 in a 6 lesson unit.
