Powerpoint and 8 worksheets, designed for the new AQA Psychology (2015 spec). I have always enjoyed teaching statistics and the students usually quite enjoy these lessons. This is for the Year 2 content. It will take probably 3 x 1 hour sessions and there are answers provided for the worksheets. The powerpoint should act as a lesson plan really. It is tried and tested from previous courses I have taught and adapted to current specification requirements. It includes with it a 40+ slide ppt & 8 worksheets with lots of example scenarios for them to practise their stats skills on. Revision carousel activity independent lesson on Biopsychology. I print out the instructions for each station and then print the worksheets. I then instruct the students to work their around the room from station to station completing the activities. They should start with the area they are least confident with. Activities are mostly summary tables but also includes playdough and making a localisation brain hat (link is here and on ppt for the brain resources - http://ellenjmchenry.com/brain-hemisphere-hat/) Also available separately is a summary ppt covering the whole biopsychology module.

AQA Psychology, Research Methods topic. This is a full 1 hour 30 min lesson on sampling methods. This includes Random, Systematic, Stratified, Opportunity, Volunteer. A couple revision lessons on the approaches - would take me at least 2-3 hours probably to cover this as its a 66 slide ppt with 10 documents in total. Couldlast even more if you get them to try out some of the exam questions and do all the worksheets. PPT: Has short summaries of each of the approaches and then a series of exam questions, on each approach, to show key exam technique, advice for answering and sometimes sample answers. Included is a student version with blanks to fill in, or to use to test their knowledge before going over each topic. Documents: Includes a couple essay answer samples as well and lots of summary quick recall activities (blank table, key word knowledge check, crossword etc).

This is a full lesson including powerpoint, booklet for note taking and worksheet activities for A2 Biological Rhythms in the Biopsychology part of the course. It includes Circadian, Infradian and Ultradian Rhythms as well as Endogenous Pacemakers and Exogenous Zeitgebers. The powerpoint is over 40 slides long and includes numerous links to video clips, a longer documentary. I give the students a copy of the notes booklet and they complete this as we go through the ppt - saves time on too much note taking. To finish off there are some summary tasks: A crossword and a card sort summary task on biological rhythms. It will last approximately 3-4 hours of teaching. Full Lessons (2x 90 mins) for Classical and Operant Conditioning in the Behaviourist approach. It includes work sheets and powerpoints (with lots of video links). Designed for AQA Psychology. It covers all key information needed for AQA spec including behaviourist assumptions and evaluation of the two conditioning theories. A full lesson for Family Dysfunction and Cognitive Explanations of Schizophrenia. Includes a powerpoint, notes sheet. Also has an essay activity. If the students cut up the essay where there is a line break between sections then try and stick it back together as a complete essay. Answers are provided for this task on the 3rd page of the document.

For AQA Psychology Forensic Topic. This is a full lesson on Atavistic form (Lombroso’s explanation). It includes a fun activity which can be done for open evening- serial killer or psychologist (the descriptions should be stuck on the back of the photos for each card). After covering the features of Lombroso’s theory they examine their picture to see if their criminal has any of those features.

This is a full lesson and homework for the year 1 statistics part of the course. It has a ppt covering significance and the 5% level of probability as well as how to do a sign test. It includes 3 examples of sign test studies to practise on including one where the students carry out their own study and collate the data to show the whole process. Note: One is tricky so can be an extension for stretch and challenge. It also includes a homework sheet to practise sign tests, drawing conclusions and maths bits and another document of past sign test questions for more practise. Answers/teacher copies are provided for the examples and homework. A2 Stats lesson has also been uploaded and this can be bought as a bundle of all my first year lessons for RM.

Designed to recap and revise the whole Gender module for AQA Psychology. It includes Sex, Gender, Androgyny, Explanations of Gender, Culture and Media Influences and Gender Identity Disorder. Most topics are condensed to one manageable slide that can be turned into revision cards. I give the students a copy of the student version (usually 2 slides to page) to complete and annotate while I go through the teacher version as a class. Sometimes asking them to complete it before I go through it. I have included a bonus key terms check. I have uploaded a similar thing for some first year topics and Forensic and Schizophrenia in second year topics.

Full lesson (1 hour 30 mins) on hypotheses and aims for Year 1 AQA Research methods. It goes through what null and alternative hypotheses are. It also shows the differences in structure of experimental and correlational hypotheses. A homework sheet with sample exam questions on aims and hypotheses is included as well.

This includes a powerpoint covering types of validity (Internal, External, Population, Ecological, Temporal), threats to validity (Investigator Bias, DCs, Social desirability, EV’s & CV’s) and ways of assessing validity (Concurrent Validity & Face Validity). It comes with a Notes Sheet (the students can use as you teach). It includes some activities and a match task as well.

This includes a powerpoint detailing notes for experimental designs. I usually only get them to take notes on the description of each design and then they do the card sort to get the evaluation for each. I use the experiment resources to demonstrate the differences in the designs and also to get them thinking about the strengths and weaknesses. Words vs Pictures for repeated measures and then the long and short words memory test for independent groups (instructions on ppt and in notes under ppt slides). 2 sets of exam questions included - one can be for the lesson and one for homework.
