Average Rating4.14
(based on 8 reviews)

A selection of resources from my 17 year and counting PE teaching career, which have developed through many different experiences and curricula on 4 continents. Most recently, I have introduced the SL IB Diploma Program Sports Exercise and Health Science in its inaugural year in my school in South America, and I am currently doing the same with the Higher Level component in my current Central European adventure. Tarsia Puzzle - Components of Fitness - Lesson Starter/Revision

(1)
A 10-15 minute lesson starter/short task to revise the Components of Fitness. Students cut out (or you can laminate and give them a full set) the triangles and match the components of fitness to their definition. This will create an overall shape, in this case an equilateral triangle (answers are shown). EXTENSION TASK - Students who finish quickly have to identify the missing component of fitness (Reaction Time) and write a definition of it.

Basketball Jump Shot Self Assessment

Best used when the performer is filmed on a tablet or mobile device by a partner. The sheet goes through the main teaching points of the jump shot for comparison with student performance. A great AfL task.

Self/Peer Assessment Long Jump

A peer or self assessment resource for the Long Jump event, which is best used as an Assessment for Learning tool. It is also very useful to the teacher to assess students' knowledge of the event.

Team Building Games

(1)
13 team building game task cards which I have used to great effect in PE lessons around the world to improve team cohesion and break physical boundaries. I normally use this in the first week of the year, when the kids have not got their routines and PE kits sorted. These activities can be used across the age range, from 7-16 years old. Some may be better for older kids, some younger... you decide! :-)

PE specific posters of the IB Learner Profiles to place on your gym wall. I use these to great effect in my lesson plenaries, asking children to sit under a learner profile which they had exhibited in the lesson, and getting them to explain why/how. The pictures have been updated (September 2019) to up-to-date sportspeople/performers. All images are from Google and were not taken by me. Feel free to update and change them to your own, or keep them the same!
