I have 23 years experience teaching Pre-K through Grade 8 in public and parochial school districts. I am currently teaching music in a STEM school and use a lot of technology in my music class. I had the honor being selected as Teacher of the Year-STEM Academy 2016.I have an eclectic style of teaching and try to incorporate technology and interdisciplinary studies wherever possible. The games that I create incorporate different subject areas and are interactive in nature.

Musician Memory Game-matching instrument and musician

(0)
This is a matching game, where students will match the instrument with a child playing the same instrument. This will help students recognize classroom rhythm instruments and instruments of the orchestra and how they are played. Students place the cards in 4 rows of four face down. Students take turns turning over two cards at a time trying to match the instrument with the musician playing that instrument. Download the game and print on double sided card stock (borderless) and laminate for best results! When using with young children (K-1) , I suggest splitting the game up into five mini games and putting into ziplock bags. The students then only have to match 8 instruments/musicians at a time. when they complete the first baggie, they switch to a different bag (group of 8 instruments/musicians) I am including a second set of colored cards with colored dots on the back so that you can sort them into the mini games faster. Also included is a black and white set to save on colored ink. I hope your students enjoy them as much as mine did!

Surf's Up! Interactive Music Note Reading Game

This is a treble clef note and "musical word" reading game. When designing this product, I was thinking of how my own students love to take turns playing games in my music class. They can’t get enough of it and always want “another turn.” This product has plenty of opportunities for students to have several turns during one class, or over several class periods. This game can be projected for a class to play at once or used on an iPad or tablet for individual or small group play. The game is tiered so that it gets harder as the students go to different locations. Each location is like a mini game It can be played over one or several class periods. LOTS of content here! I hope your students enjoy Surf’s Up! as much as my students have! Students go on a virtual adventure visiting different Spring/Summer scenes to help the children with note reading. they are given over 50 examples of note/ musical words to practice. It is a great way to integrate technology into the classroom and differentiate instruction. It also helps students (especially second language learners develop language skills and vocabulary development. But, most importantly, it provides lots of fun while learning about music!
