Glow & Grow/ Meta-Skills Progression (SDS Aligned) & Pupil Profiling & Target Setting System Bundle
Hey everyone! I’m a primary teacher from Aberdeen City Council, and I’m so excited to share something I’ve developed and used successfully in my school.
Glow and Grow: Pupil Target Setting & Profiling System (P1–P7) & Primary Meta-Skills Progression (SDS Aligned) & World of Work Connections BUNDLE!
I created this whole-school system because I believe every child should feel proud of their progress and have a clear, manageable way to set and achieve personal goals. Glow and Grow helps pupils from P1 to P7 take real ownership of their learning by reflecting on strengths, setting targets, and celebrating their successes — all connected to SDS MetaSkills and Curriculum for Excellence Benchmarks.
What’s included:
Pupil-friendly targets for every stage (P1–P7)
** Termly target templates for P4–P7
Whole-class visual target walls for P1–P3 — no worksheets, just engagement
A “Glow Jar” celebration system that motivates and recognizes effort
Staff guidance and clear progression steps
Links to career education, profiling, and smooth transitions
Why it matters:
It gives pupils a voice in their learning and builds their confidence
Encourages reflection and a growth mindset every day
*Creates a positive classroom culture where success is visible and celebrated
Supports teachers with easy-to-use, flexible tools that fit any classroom
Helps develop skills that matter beyond the classroom — for life and work
This approach has genuinely changed how my pupils see their learning journey. They get excited about their targets and proud when they “glow” — and that makes all the difference.

Exploring Keats’ Ode on a Grecian Urn
This engaging lesson invites upper primary (P7) and early secondary (S1–S2) pupils to dive deep into the rich language of John Keats’ classic poem Ode on a Grecian Urn. Pupils will closely read and annotate the poem, focusing on identifying key figurative language such as metaphors, personification, and other poetic devices.
Using a guided figurative language key and an answer sheet, students will explore how these devices create vivid imagery and add layers of meaning to the poem. To support comprehension and make the language more accessible, each stanza is translated into modern, relatable phrasing—helping learners connect with the text’s themes and emotions.
Key Learning Objectives:
Identify metaphors, personification, and other poetic devices within the poem.
Understand how figurative language shapes meaning and imagery.
Build vocabulary through the creation of a dedicated word list.
Encourage discussion and personal interpretation by sharing findings with family members.
Included in the lesson:
The original poem alongside modern translations of each stanza.
Annotation tasks highlighting figurative language.
Vocabulary-building activities.
Guided discussion prompts for deeper understanding Powerpoint
This lesson provides a thoughtful balance of analytical skills and creative thinking, making Keats’ work accessible and engaging for young learners preparing for secondary education.
