A handy resource which can very easily be used with both KS3 and KS4. Useful for a class who are struggling to vary their writing. I encouraged pupils to work together on creating an exceptional piece of writing. They roll the dice, move along the board game and take it in turns to add to their piece of writing.

A lesson which worked extremely well with a high ability year 9 class, who were focusing on the fiction section of the Eduqas exam. Can be easily adapted to suit different abilities. The lesson focuses on the pupils understanding the term 'unreliable narrator' and then reading key extracts taken from 'The Girl on the Train', 'The Yellow Wallpaper' and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time'. The pupils had to choose which extract they wanted to read and identify in what way the narrator was unreliable. Great discussion came from this. They then had to imagine they were watching the unreliable narrator and create a descriptive writing piece focused on this. Examples included in the PowerPoint. My pupils ended up asking me if they could have copies of the books as they wanted to read more!

A lesson focusing on what Oscar Wilde was like as a person. Pupils look at famous saying and epigrams and figure out what they mean, as well as what they reveal about Oscar Wilde himself. Worksheet included. Ideal for both KS3 and KS4 as a way into to studying any of Oscar Wilde’s work.

A handy, colourful booklet created to ensure pupils have something easy to revise from. They were asked to find key quotations for character/theme. Can be done each lesson whilst studying the novel or be given to them to do independently.

This lesson enables KS4 pupils to successfully track Scrooge’s transformation from Stave 1 to Stave 5. They have to recall which stave each quotation was said in, link the quotations to specific and relevant context and then use the sentence starters and example essay to help them write their own. Perfect for a mixed ability group or for any class who need to focus on revision based tasks ready for GCSE.

Two lessons. First lesson focuses on analysing structure and language devices used. Speed dating sheet included with numerous questions to force pupils to delve deeper into language. Second lesson focuses on pupils marking example responses that I've created and explaining what is good about them and what could be improved upon.

Lesson designed to cater to low ability GCSE class studying the theme of poverty in ACC. Lesson requires pupils to follow a step by step process of identifying key moments of poverty, matching key quotations to the theme (quotations provided), exploring the quotations and then linking to relevant contextual information (provided). Fits the WJEC/Eduqas GCSE Spec.

A lesson which focuses on revising the plot of Macbeth through the use of dual coding. Pupils are encouraged to put the plot in the correct order through a series of images and then minimise the plot into manageable buzz words. A great lesson for GCSE pupils revisiting plot.

TWO LESSONS. A lesson which focuses on Section B of the WJEC / Eduqas GCSE spec. Pupils are asked to identify moments Macduff is in the play and then answer some challenging questions on him. A plan is also provided for teacher reference of all the key moments Macduff comes up in the play. The second lesson focuses on how to write a response about the character of Macduff. A full essay is included which covers Act 2-5. Designed for mid to high ability Year 11s.

This lesson is designed as a revision lesson to refresh knowledge of the plot. It is great for all abilities as dual coding features heavily in the lesson. Lesson requires pupils to explore images linked to the plot and put them in order. They then have to reduce the plot down to ‘buzz words’ - i.e the plot in its shortest format.

A lesson which focuses on exploring Scrooge’s family relationships. Pupils are given 5 small extracts, taken from across the novel, and asked to explore what each one reveals about Scrooge’s familial relationships. They are then given some challenging questions at the end of the lesson such as ‘to what extent do Scrooge’s family have a positive influence on his transformation’. A resource which is easily adaptable to fit the needs of your GCSE class.
