I became a teacher ten years ago after almost twenty years as a professional actor. Throughout the last ten years as a teacher, I have learned a vast amount; not only about effective methods of learning, teaching and pedagogy but also about myself as both educator and learner. I absolutely value myself as a life-long learner and seek to instil this within pupils in every class I teach. I have taught in almost every year group. I believe that any teacher should be willing and able to work with children of any age. The experience of multiple ages and stages has also afforded me a strong understanding of childrens’ development and progression, which consequently informs my practice. Like most primary school teachers in the UK, I have middle leadership roles (science and drama/oracy) in my present school. However, my passion lies in the classroom. I have a heartfelt interest in encouraging metacognition and growth mindset in the children I teach, both academically and socially.
