I am a languages teacher who has, over the years, created many resources for teaching French and Spanish. Here I am sharing a few of these, in the hope it makes a hard-working teacher's life a little easier at a time when they need something quickly. Often adding more resources, so watch this space!

Le Noël - Christmas Connect 4 for French learners

(0)
A Connect4 game to support learning of Christmas vocabulary for French learners. I usually split the class into teams of 2 and have them compete to remember vocabulary/pronunciation. You can make this more challenging for more able, for example by requiring the vocab item to be part of a sentence; part of a sentence in a different tense, etc. Includes a full list of vocabulary featured in the game on a second slide Must be used in edit mode rather than slide show mode. It takes at least half an hour with an average-sized class to finish this activity.

A 12-slide Powerpoint to introduce vocab items in Italian to describe feeling unwell. There is an individual slide for each vocab item to aid teaching as well as a vocab list and Connect 4 board game with counters. The game needs to be played in Edit mode otherwise the counters won’t move. I usually split groups into 2 and have them compete to remember key vocab/phrases and make it more difficult for more able groups, e.g. put the sentences into different tenses, etc.

Animals Connect 4 Game for French, Spanish, German, Italian class

A Connect4 game based in Powerpoint including animals vocabulary from Mira, Expo, Stimmt! There is an individual slide for each vocab item in all 4 languages as well as a vocab list and Connect 4 game board. Pupils must name the item using relevant vocabulary in target language in order to place their counter. Aim is to get 4 in a row, either horizontallly, vertically or diagonally. I usually split the group into 2 and have them compete against each other. More able could be asked to put the vocab item into a sentence, or use different tenses, etc. The Powerpoint must be used in edit mode, or the counters won’t move. The pictures must also be ‘sent to back’ (or counters ‘sent to front’) in order for the counters to show in front of the pictures. The file could also be shared digitally with pupils and they could play in pairs. Vocab provided on second slide.

Time and Morning Routine Connect 4 game - ppt - French and Spanish

A Connect 4 game which consolidates learning about time and daily routines. In two stages - one game just with times, another with both times and phrases to do with daily routine. Compliments my Powerpoint on daily routine which can be found in my shop. ALl the vocabulary for each of the images and times are listed on the slides. I usually put students into two teams and have them compete against one another. The game can be made as easy/challenging as you like, or you could graduate difficulty with each game. Set up for use in French or Spanish classes, but could be amended to be used in any language.

A Connect-4 games based in Powerpoint to help pupils practise food vocabulary in any language. It includes vocab lists in each language as well as individual slides with each vocab item to aid teaching. Can also be used to practise sentence structures and tenses, or a whole range of other uses. Highly customisable. It needs to be played whilst in edit mode rather than slideshow mode, as otherwise the counters won’t move. I usually divide groups into 2 and have them compete against each other. I also have the same Food Connect 4 game available in individual languages in my shop.

An outline of grammatical terms which French GCSE pupils need to understand in order to master the necessary grammar points for GCSE. Includes an activity to recognise elements of a sentence related to the terms defined. Could also be used to help pupils of Spanish or Italian GCSE. I like to present grammar information visually, as it helps me to teach it better and pupils report that they remember the information more easily with the use of colour and visual layout.

Spanish Rules of Accentuation - PPT with interactive quiz

(0)
This a 57-slide PowerPoint which outlines the rules of accentuation in Spanish, followed by a basic, interactive quiz to help students remember the rules. Rules of accentuation in Spanish revolve around two main syllable types (tónicas and átonas), and four main word types (agudas, llanas, esdrújulas and sobresdrújulas). The PowerPoint explains how the different word types have stress on different syllables, which are counted backwards from the end of the word; when the different types of words carry a ‘tilde’ (accent) and why, and some exceptions to these rules.
