Two lesson sequence teaching the Russian alphabet suitable as a first/introductory lesson for KS2, KS3 and KS4. Introduces both sounds and spelling, as well as introducing yourself to others. Each lesson includes three part lesson objectives in English. Introduction of letters done by similarity to English. Activities include: decoding cognates, near cognates, spelling proper nouns (e.g. student’s names), unscrambling cognates in Russian, single word dictation, conversation. Worksheets/Print outs are located at the end of the slide with instructions for how many to print per student. Only changes needed are adding in the relevant date for the lesson.

This bundle contains a 6 week unit of work containing 12 PPT lessons taking students from learning the Russian alphabet all the way through to being able to write a paragraph in Russian about themselves and their family. It introduces students to concepts of case and gender agreement and starts teaching key verbs. There are a variety of activities, including reading, listening, games, gap fills, translations, speaking, writing. Each writing activity is accompanied with links to a variety of Russian music from classical to variety to pop for students to listen to whilst working. This unit of work is suitable for KS3 students just starting their Russian Language journey with differentiated objectives at the start of every lesson. All print-outs/worksheets are included at the end of the sequence ready for printing. Instructions for activities are included either in the slides or in the notes. Transcripts for teachers to read out for listening activities are included in the notes.

This grammar review worksheet reviews all the grammar covered in my unit 1 (Знакомство) Russian lessons. This worksheet is ideal to give to students to work through and aid in their revision either on the run up to an End of Unit assessment or to maintain their Russian over holidays after finishing the unit. The sheet is split up into three sections: grammatical gender, cases, and verbs. It contains activities checking both their declarative knowledge of grammar (the know-what) and their procedural knowledge of grammar (the know-how). It could also be divided up by section to use as homework throughout the unit.
