A summary of Roald Dahls short story ‘First Day’. This have been used with a mixed ability Year 7 group after we worked on an a piece of writing about their first day in seconday school.

This is a detailed lesson plan for a KS3 class. This particular class is primarily focusing on AFOREST and how it can be used within a Room 101 presentation. This particular lesson plan was used for an interview lesson. The plan has a ‘Do Now’. guidelines on teacher input, assessment, individual practice and also a plenary with notes to the side. This lesson plan is just a guide, it does not include resources (PowerPoint, exercises) and it is a ‘Read Only’ document.

This is a simple resource for group work/pair work to annotate important quotes from Hamlet. There are 5 sheets in total on an A4 landscape sheet.

This is a resource I used with my KS4 students on their Coursework A for Pearson IGCSE Edexcel. This was used after students were due to submit their final piece of work. This RAG (Red, Amber, Green) list asks them several questions to make sure they have proofread their essay before submission. The resource is 2 pages and can be glued into their books or placed into their folder.

This is a lesson plan I made for an observation for Year 7 with War Horse. This can be used in a SoW or as revision material. The main task for this is for students to attempt their own PEEL paragraph after they have chosen their friendships and quotes from the text. There is also a PowerPoint of this lesson in which I used for an observation also.

Advertising PowerPoint for Year 7's to give them an insight into some of the techniques used within advertising. The lesson includes going trough the basics such as terminology and also embedded YouTube clips embedded showing certain TV advertisements which can be used for Q&A sessions. You can choose your own logo's for the final pair exercise depending on your class.

An excellent resource to be used at the end of the play to analyse the key scenes in the play. These also include key extracts that students can be used for questions on the play. At the end of the PowerPoint the students are asked to write about a certain theme(s) using key scenes.

This lesson focuses on Steinbeck’s use of language to create atmosphere at the start of the novel. Students start ‘Do Now’ in relation to connotations, followed by a think-pair-share to talk about other connotations. Students then read the start of the novel and answer questions before completing a main task. There is also a hinge question and plenary to check understanding. This PowerPoint starts with a ‘Think-Pair-Share’ task. It then has various exercises from gap-fill to an exam question with the aid of a fact sheet of Dharavi. These are all printable resources within the PowerPoint. The resource also includes 6 accounts of peoples own experience of Dharavi which can lead to open discussion or for students to write the positives and negatives of living in Dharavi.
