Designated safeguarding lead (DSL) role

A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is an important role in supporting pupils, teachers, parents and external professionals with concerns, procedures and incidents.  

Working with colleagues and the safeguarding team if present, they help create a safe environment for vulnerable individuals in and outside of school. In some schools this is an individual role, in others there may be a safeguarding team or a trust-wide team.
