This is lesson 5 in the sequences of lessons on data representation – part of the computer science GCSE course, although it can be adapted for a key stage 3 computing class that is being prepared for GCSE. This lesson introduces one way of showing negative numbers in binary format, and leads students to understand why this format is not good enough for computer programming.
