Addition Mats

Everything you need for early addition!

This resource consists of a set of colour-coded addition mats designed to help learners develop a concrete understanding of addition. Each mat contains several addition number sentences and a ten-frame. Learners use the cut-out counters provided, placing the required number of red and blue counters into the ten-frame to represent each part of the addition calculation. They then count all the counters together to find the total. The colour-coding helps learners distinguish between the two groups being added, while the ten-frame supports counting, number recognition and early number sense.
