An activity to revisit some of the key aspects of early algebra, namely substitution, equations (unknown on one side and unknown on both sides), expanding brackets and forming expressions.

Children can work independently or in groups, slides are printed and placed randomly around a classroom or outdoor space and children work through the questions. Each subset of 4 questions gets progressively difficult so for differentiation suggest more able children do the last two of each group (i.e qu3/4/7/8/11/12/15/16/19/20

Aimed at Yr7 middle ability but could easily be used, or adapted, for more able yr6 or as a revision activity for yr8.
