This is a plan for a 4 session art block based on cave paintings from the Stone Age. The plans include activities working towards a final art 'installation' and ideas for what to do with the finished piece. Included is a sheet of useful questions to get the children thinking about the Stone Age work, a comment sheet for visitors to the installation, and an evaluation sheet for the pupils. Learning objectives for each of the 4 junior year groups are included on the plan, and differentiation is by outcome.
The skills involved are sketching using different media, hatching and shading, looking at colour and creating an atmospheric show space for the finished pieces.
The powerpoint presentation is a good starting point for the block, using images (which are free to be used commercially) from different caves around the world.
