Behaviour Regulation Intervention

This intervention is a structured programme designed to help young people understand the reasons behind their behaviour, recognise how thoughts, feelings and experiences influence their actions, and develop the skills needed to make safe, positive choices. It places behaviour regulation at the centre, recognising that behaviour is a form of communication and that young people are more likely to succeed when they feel understood, supported and equipped with practical strategies.

The programme supports young people to:

  • Recognise the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour
  • Identify personal triggers and early warning signs
  • Develop emotional awareness and self-reflection
  • Learn and practise behaviour regulation strategies
  • Build confidence in making safe and positive choices
  • Strengthen problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Understand the impact of their behaviour on themselves and others
  • Develop resilience and effective coping strategies
  • Repair relationships and take responsibility for their actions in a positive way
