This SoW is broken down into 2 half terms, covering enough content for a whole academic term. It is a comprehensive unit featuring practical and theoretical sessions, providing students with a solid foundation for beginning their KS4 BTEC Dance components (1,2,3). Each lesson within the scheme of work is outlined by a brief lesson overview. Please note this is not a comprehensive lesson plan, however, has enough detail for teaching staff to work from and adapt as required. There are 38 lessons in this scheme.

Upon completion of the unit, students will have a plethora of knowledge which they can apply to their assessed modules. It is hoped they will have improved upon their technical ability, creative skills and theoretical understanding. Prompts for linked learning to component 1 are evident throughout.

Please note - this is not a component 1 SoW, it is simply a preparatory unit which I have designed to prepare students for their assessed components. This is not verified by an examination board, it is simply my interpretation and knowledge as a professional practitioner of dance. I have also created a student work booklet and unit on a page document, which directly complements this SoW.

The SoW is broken down into the popular HHH (head, hands, heart) concept curriculum and lists the subject intent, implementation and impact, as favoured by Ofsted. There are also career links and key words listed.

Also available to purchase are KS3 choreography / technique SoWs and resources, as well as further KS4 BTEC Dance documents, including the above noted student work booklet and unit on a page.
