    Composition: Primarily water (

    is main salt).
    Salinity: Concentration of dissolved salts, measured in parts per thousand (ppt).
    Increases by: Evaporation, freezing (ice formation).
    Decreases by: Precipitation, river runoff, melting ice.
    pH & Ocean Acidification: Sea water is slightly alkaline (pH 7.5–8.4). Increased
    dissolves in water, creating carbonic acid, reducing pH.
    Density: Affected by temperature (cold = denser) and salinity (saltier = denser).
    Vertical Structure:
    Light: Penetrates top 200m (photic zone).
    Temperature: Decreases with depth (thermocline).
    Pressure: Increases by 1 atmosphere every 10m depth.
