Hi everyone,
I understand that both Design and Technology or Art departments often work with restricted budgets, making it difficult to purchase drawing aids like isometric stencils. To help, I’ve created a Techsoft 2D Design template that you can cut using your school’s laser cutter.
The template can be printed at full size or half size, and you can edit the profiles to create more creative options.
Why use isometric stencils?
Isometric stencils help scaffold sketching skills by giving pupils a starting point. Students can begin by using the templates to sketch lightly and get a feel for the 30° angles used in isometric drawing. Once they build confidence and accuracy, you can progress them to freehand sketching, developing their technical drawing skills further.
Material suggestion and sustainability:
These stencils can be cut from clear acrylic or Perspex using a school laser cutter. This makes them durable, transparent for easy alignment, and reusable. While there is a short-term cost for materials, this approach is far more sustainable than repeatedly purchasing disposable stencils from suppliers.
Important note about file access:
TES does not support Techsoft 2D Design or DXF file formats, so I cannot upload these directly to the platform. When you purchase this resource, you will receive a PowerPoint file containing my email address. Once you have my email, simply message me, and I will share a link to the drawing files. I aim to respond and provide access within the same day of purchase.
