APPROX A FULL TERM OF LESSONS

Exploring how and why populations are growing around the world. Also the growth rate of countries, looking at demographic data and trends over time.

The push and pull factors at work around the world, with a focus on the impact of migration in Kenya’s largest slum in Nairobi.

Encourages team work, a large number of applicable skills - allows for all types of learner types to access and excel in their reaction to this ongoing, extended piece of assessed work looking at the issues facing slum dwellers in Kibera, after watching extensive media types, they are able to work to creating a sustainable response to the many issues facing the people who live there.

Encourage learners to make use of Google Earth, population data.

Map skills:
Map interpretation, latitude and longitude, map skills/past paper questions used in GCSE examinations, research skills.
