This is an engaging resource on integration by partial fraction decomposition. It can be used as an independent practice two similar forms A & B or as a partner activity. Partners corresponding problems are similar ( problem A1 is similar to problem B1, problem A2 is similar to problem B2, etc) so students can collaborate and help each other.

Denominators of the rational functions which are integrands in

  • problems A1 and B1 are of type (x-a)(x-b)(x-c)
  • problems A2 and B2 are of type (x-a)(x^2+b) where b>0
  • problems A3 and B3 are of type (x-a)(x^2+bx+c) where b^2-4c<0
  • problems A4 and B4 are of type (x^2+a)(x^2+b) where a>0 and b>0
  • problems A5 and B5 are of type (x-a)^2 (x^2+bx+c) where b^2-4c<0
  • problems A6 and B6 are of type (x-a)^2 (x^2+b) where b>0

Answer keys are included.
