KS2 - Art and Music - Basquiat

Overview: Detailed Medium term Plan to cover a half term of Art (6-7 Weeks). This unit explores the art of Jean-Michael Basquiat while looking at elements of art such as colour, line and composition as well as experimenting expression and abstraction by focusing on Basquiat’s use of automatic drawing to music, writing about books, language and events the he was influenced by and making non-realistic portraits of famous icons and his friends. This unit allows students to explore expressive art with the freedom to embrace inaccuracies as the artist did while also celebrating Black modern history. It includes sheet dedicated to self, peer and teacher assessment too.
