The idea for this came to me after getting too many poor quality essays from my current Y10 and Y11 classes. This checklist had to be submitted with their homework essays and filled in by them before I would mark it. It offers a very easy and time-saving way to provide feedback on areas for improvement, and forces the students to consider whether their work is really good enough to hand in.
This worksheet is easily adaptable and could also be used on the students' desks during timed essays to help guide them on what to include. I've found it really successful and my students are now used to having it as a support tool.
