This is a really nice group activity. I get my class into groups of four with a big piece of paper and some coloured pens. They all understand what linkages are and have to design a fairground ride using a linkage and working as a team. This gives excellent discussion time in class, coming together and designing lots of concept ideas. Labelling and presenting ideas at the end of the lesson.
